Ilana S. Neufeld is an associate of Twersky PLLC, having joined the firm in 2014. Ms. Neufeld focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense and internal investigations. Ms. Neufeld is eloquent, bright, focused and attentive to her clients’ needs and concerns.

Ms. Neufeld’s practice encompasses every element of preparing and managing a matter, from pre-trial investigation through appeals. Ms. Neufeld’s experience includes motion practice, managing discovery and preparing parties and witnesses for trial. Ms. Neufeld also represents clients at trial, pre-trial, hearing, and plea and sentencing phases, in both federal and state trial and appellate courts.

Prior to joining Twersky PLLC, Ms. Neufeld was an attorney with the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor, the primary authority tasked with monitoring and regulating corruption and bribery on the waterfronts for the Port of New York and New Jersey. While at the Waterfront Commission, Ms. Neufeld worked on matters involving the investigation of longshoremen who were accused of violating governing statutes, and assisted in hearings brought by the Waterfront Commission against longshoremen. Ms. Neufeld also participated and conducted depositions of Waterfront licensees and investigated and reviewed files of licensees and licensee applicants.

Before joining the Waterfront Commission, Ms. Neufeld was a certified legal intern at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, located in Miami, Florida, where she was active in every step of criminal defense litigation. Ms. Neufeld took client interviews and witness depositions, researched, prepared and argued motions, and participated in trial preparation and in numerous trials. Ms. Neufeld also visited clients that were detained, made court appearance, and communicated and negotiated with the State Attorney’s Office regarding active matters.

Ms. Neufeld lives in New York City and enjoys running in her free time.

Education:

Ms. Neufeld obtained her law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was a Staff Editor for the Cardozo Journal of Law and Gender, a Student Attorney in the Cardozo Criminal Defense Clinic and Treasurer of the Cardozo Criminal Law Society. Ms. Neufeld graduated, magna cum laude, from the Sy Syms School of Business of Yeshiva University with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing, for which she received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Management.
